Snake is simple: eat the food, grow longer and don’t run into a wall or yourself. It’s easy early on. The challenge starts once the snake fills a good part of the board, and a few habits make all the difference there.
Stay near the walls early
Keeping the snake along the edges leaves the middle of the board open. When the food appears there, you have room to reach it and come back without boxing yourself in.
Sweep the board as the snake grows
Once the snake is long, stop chasing food directly. Move in long back-and-forth rows across the board, like mowing a lawn. The snake stays tidy and the food is always on a row you’ll reach soon.
Always leave a way out
Before you dive into a gap to grab food, check you can turn around and get out again.
Your tail moves out of the way as you go, so following your own tail is always safe.
Avoid splitting the board into two areas; one of them will become a trap.
Use quick double turns
Two quick swipes are both remembered, so you can make a tight U-turn into the next row. It’s the key move for sweeping the board at speed.
Pick your speed
Slow gives you time to learn how the snake moves and turns. Normal is the classic pace, and Fast is for quick reflexes. Your best score is kept separately for each speed.
